The winery is situated just up the road from the Waihopai Station, a secure communication facility operated by the New Zealand government, which inspired the name Spy Valley and its other label, Satellite.
Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc primary focus is on Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, two classic grape varieties that are widely cultivated throughout the country. However, the Spy Valley team has a strong passion for aromatic wines and also cultivates and produces wines from a variety of other grapes, including Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Syrah, and Malbec.
The nose reveals notes of passion fruit, ripe melon, herbal undertones, and subtle hints of mineral. On the palate, these fruity flavors are complemented by a satisfying weight and refreshing crisp acidity.
